Isolated Flying Capacitor Multilevel Converters

This paper presents the topology known as isolated flying capacitor multilevel flyback converter (FCMFC). The uses capacitors (FC) for high-gain, DC-DC power conversion while maintaining primary-secondary isolation and improving efficiency capability of a standard transformer circuit. Three converters have been developed tested, one control, 3 level FCMFC, 4 FCMFC to prove gain benefits this new topology. prototypes achieve higher efficiencies relative design utilizing same off-the-shelf transformer. stress input output switches is reduced because fractioning voltage across multiple stages, allowing future iterations utilize lower-rated components. operating parameters are 5V 40V boosting 10W load at 250kHz. Utilizing semiconductor components, control prototype achieves 78% proposed reach 85% 82% efficiency, even with added power, gate drive, bootstrap circuitry. FCMFCs multiplying effect on traditional which also increases near 90% duty cycle threshold. Additional testing was done light 100kHz, 250kHz, 452kHz, 500kHz.
